Mozdev Group Inc.
The Slow, Steady Growth of a Mozilla
Software Development Company.
November 11th, 2003
Mozdev Group Inc. (MDG) is a Mozilla Software Development Company
founded by Pete Collins on January 24th 2003. Since it's inception, the
company has been experiencing slow and steady growth for the first 11
months in business. Today the company has three full time and three
part time developers. The company was started with no cash and is built
upon revenues contracted for Mozilla software development services.
The formation of the company was a logical step to provide a commercial
arm to Mozdev.org (the popular open source project hosting site
dedicated to the adoption of Mozilla technologies). Mozdev.org was
founded by David Boswell and Pete Collins in September 2000.
MDG has established a growing client base servicing all aspects of
Mozilla software development such as custom browser and application
distributions, cross
platform plug-ins, core development and user interface work.
The long term mission of MDG is simply an extension of the Mozdev
mission. To help establish Mozilla as an application development
platform. The company goals for the first couple of years is to
establish a strong revenue base that will fund the MDG team to develop
professional
open source tools and libraries that will make it easier to use and
choose Mozilla to
build rich cross platform applications.
Mozilla is starting to become recognized by companies all over the
world as a viable software solution. Open markup based
web technologies are offering powerful alternative solutions to
companies that were not possible before. MDG is committed to and
excited about the
future development of these technologies and the evolution of the
Mozilla application development space.
